E-Consult
‘Want to communicate in a hi-tech way? Try “E-consult.”
E-consult is our online consultation service. It allows any of our patient families to ask questions about child care and health. One of our doctors will respond personally to your questions. We do attempt to respond quickly, but please understand that it sometimes takes a few days to answer all of the questions that we get.

Of course, it would be inappropriate to use E-consult to ask questions about a child with an acute illness. We never want you to have to wait that long for an answer about a child whose problem requires an an immediate response. Any child with fever, pain, a rash, an injury, or any acute problem would be better served by a phone call and, of course, best served by an office visit.
Nevertheless, if you have a question about a less pressing or more chronic issue, this might be a good way to find help. Many behavioral questions lend themselves to such a forum, as do questions about an ongoing health problem, such as sleep, toilet training, nutrition and learning. You might need the name of a specialist or a good reference to read about a particular issue. E-consult would be a good venue for such topics.
Please understand that we are not offering our services online as a substitute for our usual means of communication. We are always happy to answer your questions with that “old-fashioned” friend, the telephone. And, of course, our favorite means of communication remains face-to-face conversation in the office. Think of email as another means to communicate; a way for a busy parent to ask a question that might require a bit more time to ask, or more time to answer. It is offered as a service to you, our parents and friends. Use it if you like; ignore it if you prefer.
Here is how E-consult works. As long as your child is an active patient in our practice, you are free to email us with questions. If you’re an insomniac, email us at 2 AM. If you rise with the roosters, hit your laptop at 5 AM. We will return your email within a few days -- often sooner. Unfortunately, we can’t promise who will respond to a particular message, but we do promise that one of our doctors will respond personally. Again, for the sake of your child’s safety, don’t use email for questions about a child with any illness that requires an immediate response. Any such issue is best handled with an office visit or phone call.

As the subject of your email, please use the title “E-CONSULT.” This will help us separate your mail from some of the spam that we all get. Also, include your child’s full name (first and last) and age in the body of the email, since we don’t always have access to charts when we read our emails.
We look forward to getting together with you online.
